Fortunately, the Grand Forks, North Dakota, area has several breweries that make delicious lip-smacking beers that any beer aficionado can enjoy. From pale ales to dark stouts, here is our list of 15 craft beers to try in the Grand Forks area made by these local breweries.

Half Brothers Brewing Company

For over 10 years, the Half Brothers Brewing Company has served exciting craft beers and innovative food to its patrons. While you can find several of Half Brothers Brewing Company’s beers at the liquor store, stopping by the brewery to smell the beer brewing is a wonderful experience. Stop by the brewpub at 17 N. Third St. to savor great food and sample the following five popular beers:

Classic

This crisp golden ale has lots of carbonation with a light, refreshing taste. Served very cold, this beer is delicious on a hot afternoon and can help cool your palate when you eat chips and salsa.

Punk Rock Princess

Try this unique, full-bodied pale ale when you want a hoppy beer. The brewmaster uses three varieties of hops to create this fruity pale ale. Have a slice of pizza made with goat cheese with this IPA.

Garage Band King

This Imperial Pale Ale (IPA) packs a wallop with an 8% ABV. Pair this IPA with tropical and citrus notes with a meaty burger to get the most flavor from this craft beer.

Bully Brew Coffee Brown Ale

Creamy and malty, this delicious ale has delightful chocolate and caramel flavors with hop and bitter undertones. A perfect food pairing with this ale is a pizza filled with pepperoni.

Bastards of the North BA 2020

If you enjoy an imperial stout, this is the perfect brew for you. The beer is aged in Woodford Reserve bourbon oak barrels for over nine months helping to give this beer flavors of dark fruit and chocolate. Order the pretzel bites with spicy mustard to go with this stout.

Iconic Blonde

The light and easy-to-drink Iconic Blonde pairs perfectly with a refreshing salad on a hot day using North Dakota grown barley and North American grown hops.

Peace Garden IPA

When you’re looking for a hoppy beer with an ABV of 6.2%, choose the popular Peace Garden IPA. This is an unfiltered IPA with notes of tropical fruit and citrus that come from Mosaic and Sabro hops and brings out the slight bitterness of fried Brussels sprouts.

Tropic Wonder

Summer afternoons are the perfect time to drink a sour ale with tropical flavors, such as mango, guava, and passion fruit. This cooling handcrafted beer works well with hot spicy chicken wings.

Wet and Freshie

Feel like you’re sitting on a sunny Southern California beach when you sip on the Wet and Freshie IPA. Made with several American hops, this IPA has an ABV of 6.8% that pairs perfectly with a grilled chicken sandwich.

Into the Darkness

On a snowy evening, drink an Into the Darkness porter beer to warm up with. Brewed with dark malts, the deep flavors of coffee and chocolate that come from Crystal and German Chocolate malt with lots of American hops add a touch of bitterness to this hearty porter beer. Upriver Utopia

You’ll notice bold flavors of banana, lemon, and clove when you drink the traditional-style Hefeweizen, Upriver Utopia. Brewed in collaboration with Elm Creek Brewing in Champlin, Minnesota, this bubbly, hazy beer is ideal for sipping on a warm afternoon eating salted nuts.

Blood Orange Wheat

Go for the Blood Orange Wheat when you want a beer with flavors of spicy coriander, sweet and bitter orange peel, and blood orange puree. This is a perfect beer to sip on a warm afternoon while munching on hummus and pita chips.

100 Watt IPA

Using a generous amount of Centennial hops, the West Coast-style IPA with a whopping 7.6% ABV has a wonderful hoppy flavor that would pair perfectly with a burger made from bison.

Fruit Punch Smoothie Sour

Perfect for Sunday brunch and eggs Benedict, the Fruit Punch Smoothie Sour has a punch of fruit flavors such as strawberry, tangerine, mango, and plum. The brewmasters at Revelation Ale add a touch of lactose to this sour beer to give it a bit of luscious creaminess.

Brown Ale

Hoppy, bitter, and filled with malty goodness, the Brown Ale delivers on what you would expect from a 6.2% ABV dark ale. Hazelnut flavors pop out of this beer, and the Fuggle hops give the Brown Ale a deep bitterness that tastes delicious with a ham sandwich smeared with whole-grain mustard.
